Incolballet
“The Void” — Contemporary Dance
Cuban maestro Julio César Iglesias Ungo musicalized, directed and created the choreography of the work El Vacío for Incolballet, a profound reflection on the spiritual decadence of contemporary society.
Through corporal language and forced movement, this post on stage explores the internal fragmentation of individuals and the collective disconnection in an environment that seems to disintegrate. The original music—composed by Iglesias—immerses the viewer in a sensory experience loaded with meaning and reinforces the atmosphere of this emotional journey, not that the loss of purpose and a shared spiritual crisis are the result of interpretation.
The Company
The Colombian Contemporary Dance Company was founded in June 2015, under the direction of Consolo Bravo and the artistic direction of maestro Arlai González Padín. It currently has thirteen dancers and has participated in national and international events such as the 10th Cali International Ballet Festival, the 3rd Cali International Dance Biennial and the 21st Old Havana Festival, “City in Movement”.
Incolballet also had the participation of international choreographers such as Jorge Abril Santander, Davy Brun, Redha Benteifour and Susana Pous. The company was the winner of the mid-career creation grant of the 5th edition of the Cali International Dance Biennial in 2021.
